In Memory of Darrell V. Beck, 1937-2026

We are saddened to announce that our beloved brother, Darrell V. Beck, passed away peacefully at Vero at Bethlehem, where he resided. He was 88 years old.
Darrell was married to his beloved wife, Lucina, until her passing in 2017. He is survived by his stepson, Scott Schwoyer; daughter-in-law, Susan; and four grandchildren: Jennifer, Samantha, Derrick, and Erica.
Darrell will always be remembered for his kindness, caring nature, and generosity. He was truly a friend to everyone he met — a thoughtful man who would gladly give you the shirt off his back.
Since 1982, Darrell served as co-owner of Becky’s Drive-In and played an important role in many aspects of the business throughout the years. His responsibilities included selling tickets, working as a projectionist, helping book movies each week, handling payments to film distributors, scheduling security, and picking up supplies for the drive-in. One of his favorite weekly stops was Johnson’s Farms, where he picked up the fresh 30-pound bags of French fries for the concession stand.
Outside of the drive-in, Darrell worked for many years in the business office at Bethlehem Steel and later at Air Products after retiring from Bethlehem Steel. In his earlier years, he also worked as a cashier for Penn Fruit Co.
Darrell enjoyed boating, water skiing, golfing, bowling, and skiing during his younger years. He continued golfing well into his 80s, and was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles. He always looked forward to spending Friday lunches with old friends at the Blue Mountain Drive-In whenever he was able.
Darrell will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
